Legalwise Immigration Law Summit held In Auckland

On 25 March 2022, the Legalwise Immigration Law Summit was held in Auckland. Joining leading specialists to discuss immigration priorities, policies and practices, Dixon & Co Lawyer’s Lucy Tothill presented a seminar at the summit, titled ‘Running a Refugee Case at the Refugee Status Unit’.

The Conference focused on the latest developments in immigration law and policy in the post Covid-19 environment, as well as the interplay of immigration law with employment, family and criminal law, with attendees earning up to 7 CPD hours for their participation at the summit.

Not only insightful on the relevant laws and policies, Lucy’s seminar had a specific focus on the practical steps required in bringing a case through the RSU, including the soft skills required and advocacy tips, addressing cultural nuances and client engagement. Her seminar ended with taking questions from the floor, which led to engaging and interesting conversation on topical matters.

Lucy’s seminar was chaired by Deborah Manning, barrister and current convenor of the Auckland District Law Society Refugee and Immigration Committee and Executive Member of the Refugee Council of New Zealand.
